AIFL Names Dr. Boyd Director of Medical Services

The American Indoor Football League has named Dr. Tom Boyd as its Director of Medical Services.

Dr. Boyd currently works for the Erie River Rats, a member of the AIFL's Northern Division and league. He and his wife, Dr. Christine Boyd, operate Boyd Chiropractic in Erie, Pa. -- a full service sports and wellness clinic known in the area for expertise in sports related injuries.

He will consult with all the AIFL teams and assist in their medical programs and minimize workers compensation costs. He has developed strategies to help prevent injuries utilizing chiropractic, massage therapy, strength and conditioning, and nutrition while incorporating a group of team physicians to treat injured athletes.

"Prevention is the key and having a multi-disciplinary approach is the way to accomplish this," Dr. Boyd said. “This is an exciting opportunity that I’m looking forward to.”

His previous sports experience includes providing services for the Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League, the Greensboro Prowlers of AF2, and the Erie Invaders of the Indoor Football League.

Dr. Boyd received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Gannon University in 1992 and his DC from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1996.

The Boyds have three children Thomas, Jeffrey and Sarah.
